Basilica of Bom Jesus:

The Bom Jesus Basilica is also known as Borea Jezuchi Bajilika.It is the very old church, more than 400-year-old. The Bom Jesus Basilica is the example of Jesuit architecture. This church is in Old Goa and only 10 kilometers east from Panaji.The church was constructed by Fr. Alexia de Menezes.It's taken near about 65 years for completion, from 24 November 1594 to 15 may 1650.This church is a fabulous example of Baroque architecture in Goa.The meaning of “Bom Jesus” is “good Jesus” to whom it is dedicated. The Bom Jesus Basilica is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So The Bom Jesus Basilica is also known as World Heritage Monument. This is famous for its History, Art, and architecture, and Saint Francis Xavier’s relics are enshrined here. Every 10 years the public viewing of the body of St. Francis Xavier held here. Se Cathedral is one of the oldest and most celebrated religious buildings in Goa, the Se cathedral is one of the largest churches in Asia and it took eighty years to get completed. It is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria and is located in Old Goa. This monument truly represents the royalty of Goa in the early days, during the rule of Portuguese. It takes near about 100 years for construction, 1562 – 1652. This church is built in a style of Portuguese-Manueline.The Sea Cathedral was built to celebrate the conquest of Afonso Albuquerque, which was won on the feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria, this structure is the largest church in Asia.Se Cathedral is also known as St. Catherine’s Cathedral. Calangute also famous for Fort Aguada, Baga Beach ,St. Alex’s Church and Kerkar Art Complex .Aguada Fort is a portage Fort and its Light House has been sustain from the 17 nth century.The meaning of Aguada is ‘Water’ and that’s why this fort is called as Fort Aguada.The sole purpose of building the fort was to safeguard the place from the dutch and Maratha interruption.The fort of Aguada covers up the entire peninsula lying on the western edge of Barden.The fort is known for its capacity to accumulate freshwater and has a freshwater spring that is believed was used to provide water to the ships that came there. The lighthouse built at the fort was first used to throw light at an interval of 7 minutes which was later reduced to as low as 30 seconds.
